1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;” (vs. 14-15) We see this so very often with babes in Christ, or within some older Christians. I’ve personally witnessed babes reverting back to their old flesh lifestyle such as for example “I’m going to a rave I know it’s wrong but I’ll just listen to the music and not participate” well, just being there is participating. Romans 13:14 tells us, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Once you leave the door a little cracked the devil is going to make his move (Eph. 6:11) until he can get you to fall. I’ve commented back “I can send you an audio message concerning how the devil works through music” Did that work? No, because he had already determined in his mind what he wanted and was going to do. Freewill. Plus, older Christian’s some of which aren’t living any longer (a deacon) I remember years ago while talking to me away from everyone else had dirty jokes concerning animal anatomy which isn’t funny to me at all. But, our text says “…so be ye holy in all manner of conversation” Your conversation can affect your morals, your speech, your manners, your behavior, etc It’s determined upon are you walking in the Spirit, or in the flesh? It’s easy to play church in front of the crowd, but how you are at home or when you’re alone reveals what’s really going on. Some people that practice a good discernment you can’t hide it from because they can tell something is off, but the pew warming Christian or the babe in Christ…. Yeah! You see and hear a lot of things the closer you get to some people whether it be good or bad, but how are you living? You can fool the majority of Christian’s, but God is watching and he sees the heart (Jer. 17:10) regardless of what man thinks. Instead of working hard to put on a show, wouldn’t it just be easier to be obedient? “As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance. But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
