How’s Your Speech?

Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth…” This is true for us to remember! I’ve been told years ago on my job that no where in the Bible does it say that a Christian isn’t to curse, and I pulled up this verse here and showed it to the boy. What brought this up was he had a filthy mouth and I asked him not to curse around me because I don’t like that kind of language. After showing this verse he didn’t say much else to me, and that was fine with me. A Christian must watch his speech and how he reacts around this lost world because they parrot bits and pieces of what they hear or so called Christians who are carnal and lukewarm out a bad taste in this worlds mouth concerning living right and pleasing our Lord. No I know we aren’t perfect, yet we can’t give them an opportunity to accuse us and they never come to Christ and then die in their sins lost forever and for all eternity. The verse continues by saying that “…but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” If we live right speak right act right do right and so forth there may just be that open door of opportunity in which the Lord may use our lives as a testimony to where they’ll see and know that Christianity isn’t fake (though some Christians live as it’s a joke) and they’ll come to the cross of Calvary and put their faith and trust in the death, burial and resurrection for their sins. Verse 31 says, “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:” Cursing is evil speaking! No? Well, does what you say when you are cursing glorify the Lord? Then it is to be put away from you because it is evil speaking and it grieves the Spirit! (Vs. 30) Some Christians don’t realize when they grieve the Spirit by walking in their flesh and curse that they are giving place to the devil (Vs. 27) and there’s no pleasing the Lord and it hinders Christian’s who are living right because the lost world is looking for that one who is living just as them so they can continue to live just as they are lost, dead in trespasses and sins and say that all of Christianity is fake based off of a carnal believer. Let us minister grace unto the hearers that they may come to the saving grace of our Saviour.”
